🥾 Walks & hikes

Between villages, river, mountain and coastline, the surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for walks and hikes.

Walking times are given as an indication. In the mountains as on the coast, remember to bring water, good shoes and protection against the sun.

🌿 Around Vico

🥾 Vico – Chigliani — approximately 1h30

A pleasant family walk starting from Vico allowing you to reach the hamlet of Chigliani via the old Fondale Suprano footpath.

The path, wooded and easy, reaches Chigliani after crossing a small stream.

For the return, two possibilities:

  • return by the same path;
  • slowly go back down the road, which allows you to make a loop.

💧 On the way back by road, you will pass the Chigliani fountain, ideal for taking a short break and quenching your thirst.

🥾 The old road of Muna

Starting from the Belfiore** bridge, the old mule path which formerly linked Vico to Muna first runs along the left bank of the Liamone before rising towards the village.

Good walkers can continue to Muna.

For little walkers, there is no need to go that far: you can simply follow the path along the river, enjoy the scenery and turn around when you want.

💦 Several places allow you to approach the river and, depending on the conditions, enjoy a swim.

To each his own walk

It's an easy walk to adapt: ​​a few tens of minutes at the water's edge for a short outing, or the complete hike to Muna for the bravest.

🍹 A break by the river

Near the Belfiore bridge, a hut on the banks of the river allows, in season, to have a drink or to eat.

It is also a pleasant place to quietly enjoy the river before or after the walk.

⛰️ La Cuma — 3 to 4 hours return

A real hike starting from the hamlet of Nesa, at Vico.

The trail climbs through the forest to the summit of Cuma and offers beautiful views of the region.

Duration: approximately 3 to 4 hours round trip Height difference: approximately 430 m Difficulty: sustained

🌿 Lake Creno — approximately 30 min by car + 2 hours return walk

The start of the hike is located above the village of Soccia, at the end of the road.

The path gradually climbs to the lake of Creno, located at an altitude of 1,310 m, in a very beautiful setting of laricio pines.

Allow around 1 hour of climbing to reach the lake and a little less to come back down. The hike is accessible to occasional walkers, but the climb is steady.

Once you arrive, take the time to walk around the lake and enjoy the scenery before heading back down.

Near the start of the hike, Chez Finfin allows you to take a break to have a drink or something to eat.

A very welcome stop after descending from the lake!

Allow a little more time than the 2 hours of walking: the lake is a pleasant place to picnic and take a break.

In the mountains

Even in summer, the weather can change quickly. Bring water, good shoes and protection from the sun.

🌊 Sea side

🗼 Point and tower of Omigna — approximately 45 min by car

Departing from the surroundings of Cargèse, this very beautiful hike runs along the Omigna peninsula through the maquis to the Genoese tower located at its end.

The course offers magnificent views of the sea and the coastline. The hike does not present any particular technical difficulty, but it is quite long and very exposed to the sun.

Distance: approximately 7 km return Duration: approximately 2.5 to 3 hours return Difficulty: easy to moderate

In summer

The trail offers very little shade. Avoid the hottest hours and bring enough water, a hat and sun protection.

🗼 Tour of Capigliolo — approximately 35 min by car

A pleasant coastal walk to reach the Genoese tower of Capigliolo.

The route offers beautiful panoramas of the coastline and is a good alternative for those who want a shorter walk than that of the tip of Omigna.

Difficulty: easy

In summer

The course is exposed to the sun. Bring water and avoid the hottest hours if possible.

🥾 Old mule track of Piana — approximately 1h30

This old path once linked Piana to Ota, before the construction of the current road.

The path, partly paved with stones, crosses the Calanques high up and offers magnificent views of the rock formations and the Gulf of Porto.

The route can be done in a round trip or in a loop, with a return by road.

Distance: approximately 3.2 km Duration: approximately 1 hour 30 minutes Height difference: approximately 125 m Difficulty: easy

In summer

The course is exposed to the sun. Bring water and use it in the morning or at the end of the day.

🐶 Tête du Chien & Château Fort — approximately 1 hour return

A short and very beautiful walk in the heart of the Calanques of Piana.

The departure is located at the famous Tête du Chien, easily recognizable from the road.

The path winds between red granite rocks to Château Fort, an impressive rocky promontory overlooking the Gulf of Porto.

On arrival, the panorama opens up notably on the Capo Rosso, Scandola, Girolata and the gulf of Porto.

Short stroll, big panorama

This is an excellent option for discovering the Calanques on foot without undertaking a long hike.

Shoes

The trail is short but the ground is very rocky. Good shoes are recommended.

📍 Dog's Head

⛰️ Capo Rosso & Turghiu tower

A spectacular hike to the end of Capo Rosso, dominated by the Genoese tower of Turghiu.

From the summit, the panorama is exceptional: Gulf of Porto, reserve of Scandola, Calanques of Piana and, towards the south, Cargèse and the gulf of Sagone.

The hike is magnificent but quite demanding, especially on the way back with the climb and the heat.

Difficulty: sustained

In summer

The course is very exposed to the sun. Leave early, bring plenty of water and avoid the hottest hours.

🏞️ Rivers and gorges

🌉 Ota bridges & Spelunca gorges

From the two bridges of Ota, an old mule path enters the gorges of the Spelunca.

The walk runs along the river and notably allows you to reach the Genoese bridge of Zaglia.

For a leisurely discovery, it is not necessary to complete the entire hike between Ota and Évisa: a walk to the Zaglia bridge already allows you to fully enjoy the gorges.
